American Author filed a lawsuit against Ubisoft - American author John Beiswenger has filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against Ubisoft and Gametrailers that claims the Assassin's Creed franchise stole core ideas from Beiswenger's novel, Link. Link was published in 2002 and the first Assassin's Creed game dropped in 2007.
The first Assassin’s Creed video game was launched in 2007, and since then the series has spawned two other well received titles.
